  The Collective Eye is on...  WHAT SHOULD THE WORLD KNOW ABOUT YOU?    I have dyslexia.    It was discovered when I was quite young, but I never let it hold me back.    Some people have said my books could use one last edit, and they are probably right, but at least I am out there doing it.    I’m writing books.    (I have a wonderful editor now, JD Reed.)   To have a full and rich life, I believe people should do extraordinary things.    Don’t play video games, make them.    Don’t read books, write them.   I know, I just told everyone not to read my books, but this is what I told my students.    I tried to inspire them to go outside their comfort zone and try to do something they only dare to dream of.    A few of my students wrote and published novels of their own before they graduated.   HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR BOOKS ?   My zombie apocalypse series is...

The Collective Eye is on...  WHAT SHOULD THE WORLD KNOW ABOUT YOU? I get bored easily, so the fact that I’ve continuously run a blog for nearly 11 years never ceases to surprise me. In addition to my blog, I’m a contributor to The Dark Pages, a film noir newsletter (watch for my latest article in the upcoming Annual GIANT Dark Pages issue). On a side note, when I’m not writing I love to take my camera everywhere (much to my family’s chagrin), and photograph the Pacific Northwest. Okay, there’s one more thing… For a while, I’ve been working on a secret writing project, an as-yet-untitled book, taking a deep dive into cinematic depictions of sideshows from the beginning of film to the present.   The Collective Eye is on...  WHAT SHOULD THE WORLD KNOW ABOUT YOU?  I am afraid, with my tendency to write about my personal life pretty regularly, the world already knows too much!  As people go, I’m pretty boring.  I am a peace-loving optimist and skeptic (but like, in an optimistic way).    Whenever I have to take part in teambuilding type activities where you’re supposed to reveal something about yourself no one knows there are usually a few things I fall back on: I play the violin, I am writing a novel, and I can touch my nose with my tongue.  That last one gets mixed reactions.    HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR BLOG?  My blog probably should be named “Dear Diary” because it is me writing about my life, my experiences, my memories, my frustration and sadness and happiness and joy.  Occasionally I throw a fiction story out there but doing that makes me want to throw up so it’s mostly The Life and Times of Nichole.  It i...

I don't want to be famous (though it would be nice if a few more people had read my books 😉 ) I just want the world to carry on ignoring me although enjoying the books, and perhaps wondering what sort of strange person created them. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR BOOKS? & WHO OR WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START WRITING ?  I started off writing when I was 18. I was trying to create a world in which I would be happy, I think. I created 4 books at this time. Herai, Damon Ich, Stolid and Rael. These last two still waiting to be published. Then I spent the next 27 years trying to survive, earning a living and working hard in a job I was probably unsuited too. We've been together for over 12 years and he's my best friend, and sometimes editor of my blog posts. I write an entertainment blog on all things entertainment which includes films and TV and remembrance posts to blogathons. I love this entertainment niche as I've met lots of lovely people so far be they fellow bloggers or those who work in the entertainment field.  I do try actively to tag those acting talents I write about in my entertainment reviews. I like to think of it as my wee thank you to their performance in the film or TV Show I'm writing about. So I usually get superexcited if an actress or actor retweets, likes a post or follows me.  HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR BLOG?  My blog kind of evolved in both posts and pages and I was lucky to find a theme that showcased these both perfectly.   The Collective Eye is on...  WHAT SHOULD THE WORLD KNOW ABOUT YOU?   First and foremost, that this music is for me. I created it because I’ve always wanted to make music and because I have things inside me that I feel I need to release into the world. I am someone who consistently asks the same question: What’s this (*waves arms*) all about? Is it about anything at all? I don’t have an answer, but the music is an exploration of the question.  Some of the feedback I’ve received on this body of work is that it’s dark. But it simply has to be that way. I’ll talk more about that in a minute, but what I want people to know is that while it’s true that the music may feel or sound bleak, there’s always an element of hope weaving through it for me. There’s always hope because that’s what keeps us moving forward.
